You can contact us about privacy using the contact form or by phone.
What personal information we collect
We only collect personal information that we need to respond to you and to provide our services. This may include:
- Contact form enquiries: your first and last name, email address, phone number, location and the content of your message.
- Emails and phone calls: your name and contact details, and anything you choose to tell us, when you contact us directly.
- Clients and prospective clients: business contact details and information about your publication that you give us so we can provide our services.
You don't have to give us your personal information, but if you don't, we may not be able to respond to your enquiry. You can contact us without identifying yourself (for example, by phone without giving your name), although we may need your contact details to reply.
We don't intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health information or political opinions). Please don't include it in an enquiry.
How we use your personal information
We use your personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry
- provide, manage and improve our services
- communicate with you about the services you've asked about
- keep our website and contact form secure and prevent spam
- meet our legal obligations.
We will only use or disclose your personal information for another purpose if you consent, or if the Privacy Act allows it (for example, where the law requires it).
Marketing
We don't sell, rent or trade personal information. We won't send you marketing material unless you have agreed to receive it, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Service providers we use
We use a trusted service provider to run our website and email. It handles personal information on our behalf, only for the purposes described here:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): hosts our website and delivers emails sent from the contact form (Amazon Simple Email Service). Our website and email delivery use AWS's Sydney region, so this information is stored and processed in Australia.
Our contact form is protected from spam by a security check that runs on our own website. It works by having your browser solve a small puzzle in the background. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you, and doesn't share any information with a third party.
Cookies
Our website uses one cookie: a session cookie set by our website software. It keeps the contact form secure and expires when you close your browser or after a short period of inactivity.
We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't currently use website analytics. If we start using analytics, we'll update this policy first.
Storage, security and retention
Contact form enquiries are emailed to us and a copy is stored on our website server so that no enquiry is lost if an email fails. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls on our website and email accounts, and keeping our software up to date.
We keep enquiry records for up to two years after our last contact with you, unless we need to keep them longer for an ongoing business relationship or a legal reason. After that, we securely delete them.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Contact us using the details above. We'll respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first. If we refuse a request, we'll tell you why in writing.
Complaints
If you have a concern or complaint about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. We'll respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
- Website: www.oaic.gov.au
- Phone: 1300 363 992
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
